Notes
The journal documents Edmund Heller's field work, October 9 - 28 (year not stated), for the National Geographic Society Yale University Peruvian Expedition, 1915. Information is entered from the front and back of the notebook. On the front cover is a list of mammal specimens preserved in alcohol. Entries from the first are dated, and detail travel details (campsites, trails taken including an Incan road), terrain (color and characteristics of ground and stone) and elevations, flora and fauna (insects, mammals, birds) observed, specimens collected (habitat where collected including coca fields), collecting methods, and Incan ruins. From the back are lists of specimens collected and flora and fauna observed. These are organized by topic and subdivided by locations -- birds, mammals, reptiles, geology, from Rio Cosireni, Rio Combruciato, Idwa, Santa Ana, Ollantaytambo. There are a significant number of notations / edits in red through out the journal. Additional locations include Occobamba Pass and Huadquina.
