The 26 black-and-white photographs document field work completed on McKean Island, June and July 1968. Twelve photographs taken by R. B. Clapp show Red-footed Boobies on nests (examples of intermediate phase, light phase, tan-headed intermediate phase approaching dark phase), a Blue-gray Noddy nest under dried vegetation (Digitaria), a downy young White-throated Storm Petrel in a nest under rocks, a 2/3 grown young Audubon's Shearwater in a burrow, a Gray-backed Tern colony, a young Fairy Tern chick, a White-throated Storm Petrel nest with egg, a Lesser Frigatebird colony, and a Brown Noddy nest in vegetation (Sesuvium). Fourteen photographs by C. D. Hackman show Lesser Frigatebird colonies near vegetation (Lepturus, Boerhaavia, Sesuvium), a Blue-gray Noddy Tern near vegetation (Boerhavia and Lepturus), Frigatebirds in flight, Gray-backed Tern in vegetation (Lepturus, Portulaca, Boerhaavia), a Fairy Tern chick on the side of a rock carin, several species of birds (Blue-gray Noddy Terns, Brown Noddies, Fairy Terns) on coral rubble of old guano buildings, birds in flight (Fairy Tern, Brown Noddy and Lesser Frigatebirds), Red-footed Booby (Southern phase plumage) and Great Frigate nesting near coral rubble with vegetation (Boerhaavia, Tribulus, Lepturus), and an Audubon Shearwater on a nest near a rock wall. The images have captions on the reverse side that list location, date, photographer, description, and negative numbers (126A, 138A, 145A, 146A, 150A, 160A, 161A, 222A, 224A, 225A, 226A, 229A, 672-674, 677, 702-704, 706, 710, 719, 720, 724, 729, 732). The photographs taken by R. B. Clapp also include unknown identifiers (e.g. 19A).
