This field book contains notes from Knab's trip to the Amazon River in Brazil from approximately 13 March to 31 May 1885. During this trip Knab collected butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) in various points along and near the Amazon River and possibly other locations in Brazil. One particular locality mentioned is Santarém. Knab's field book contains diary entries of daily events, places traveled, and vivid descriptions of his surroundings.
