Notes
This field book contains field notes on birds taken from 12 April to 12 July 1975. Notes contain lists of various birds spotted in Virginia. Most of the birds listed were observed at Eike's home on 6207 Newman Road, Fairfax or in the surrounding area. Birds observed in Centreville, and during a Virginia Society of Ornithology meeting in Salem (Virginia) are also included. Other locations may be included. Notes occasionally include weather and temperature information, quantity, time spotted, and the sex of the birds. Symbol codes on the verso of the cover are as follows: triangle -- bird seen in triangle from kitchen; upside-down T -- hanging feeder; "T" -- standing feeder; "(s)" -- singing (female); "(c)"-- calling (male); "*" -- first seen in the this season; check mark -- subsequent (used mostly for rare appearance); "*" with circle around it -- any record of bird of prey after first record; "y" -- young; check mark with apostrophe above -- see note.
