Twenty field journals produced between 1955 and 1960 by Allan Reginald McEvey while undertaking research expeditions on behalf of the National Museum of Victoria. The journals contain observation data, identification information and summaries of the work they undertook. The journals also include maps, indexes of observed species and several specimens of feathers.

Allan Reginald McEvey (1919-1996) was the Curator of birds at the National Museum of Victoria from 1955 for nearly 30 years. He was also the President of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (1968-1969).
