Three artists contributed to this work: Hercule Nicolet illustrated the frontispiece and plates I-III, V-XI; Paul Louis Oudart illustrated plate IV; and Edwin Sheppard illustrated plates XII and XIII. The plates were printed by Tourfaut and engraved by Lebrun (frontispiece and plates I-III, V-XIII) or Annedouche (plate IV). The colorists include Mme. Ve. Vaillant (frontispiece and plates I-IV, VI-VIII, XII-XIII) and Mme. German (plates V, IX-XI)
