This small notebook was kept by Rose in approximately 1887-1897 and used for informal field notes in Brazil and Mexico. Lists of plants observed, as well as observations about the habitat and physical appearance of some plants are included. Some Spanish words and phrases can be found throughout, along with their English equivalents. Some references are made to encounters with Mexican natives, including Coro Indians, and observations of their uses for plants. Localities include Pedro Paulo.
