An inserted table of contents contains a full listing of localities and corresponding collector numbers. This field book contains a specimen list of botanical specimens collected from 29 May to 5 October 1956 on Miyako and Okinawa Islands in Japan; Hawaiian Islands; California; and Colorado. Collector numbers 38135-38662 are included. Specimen list includes scientific name, date, locality, collector number, with occasional notes on locality or physical descriptions of specimens (size, color, etc.) Longer narrative notes documenting vegetation can also be found. Localities include but are not limited to Karimata, Tanachi, Matsubara, and Hirara on Miyako island; Pahoa and Kuainiho Cone on Hawaiian islands; and Los Angeles, California. In a sleeve of the inside cover are collection lists by individuals other than Fosberg. These include: plants collected on 30 September 1956 on Kurema Jima by K. Okuhara and K. Sunagawa; an unidentified plant list; and an undated plant list by R. J. Alvis.
