Original logbook of the Albatross covering station numbers Dr 3097 to 3168, Hyd 2147 to 2175, recorded 13 October 1889 to 24 March 1890 (bulk dates 15 to 24 March 1890). Data recorded include station number (no.), date, machine, turns, correction, depth, shot or lead, bottom, bottom temperature, number of thermometer, correction, corrected temperature, air temperature, surface temperature, drift, trawl or dredge, sounding wire readings, dredge rope readings, serial temperatures, and general remarks. Some notes on specimens caught are included (type and quantities of fish or other marine life). Correction table and table of abbreviations is included in the front of the book. Localities are not listed in this volume, but the albatross was known to be traveling between Point Arena and Point Conception (off the coast of California) at this time (based on the history of the ship's activities).
