This Field Trip Diary comprises the field notes from an expedition by James A. G. Rehn and Morgan Hebard from 4 August to 1 October 1922 to California, Wyoming & Arizona. Rehn and Hebard were entomologists from the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and this was one of many expeditions they undertook to collect and catalog the grasshopper fauna of the western United States. The field notes were authored by James Rehn and provide a daily description of activities, routes traveled, towns visited, the terrain, flora and fauna, collecting sites, notable grasshopper specimens collected, and birds sighted each day. Scientific names of the grasshoppers are underlined. Notations regarding photographs taken on the expedition appear in the page margins & on a loose sheet of what are likely a list of photographic views at the end of the diary. (These photos have not been located.) Also included at the end of the diary is a summary of places visited & a list of drafts in amounts of $10, $20 & $50 dollars.
