(BF Eldridge) A small colony of Culicoides guttipennis was maintained in the laboratory for 5 months using techniques developed by Jack C. Jones and Jackie Hair. During this time, 2,600 adults emerged, 13,000 eggs were laid, of which 7,500 hatched. Ten other species collected in nature were reared through from the larval stage.
