Abstract

The presence of sodium chloride, a salt commonly used to melt snow and ice, in larval media was detrimental to larval development and survival of the adults, lethal concentrations were usually less than 5000 ppm NaCl. Sublethal concentrations caused extension of the juvenile developmental period and asynchrony of ecdysis.
