An analysis of the acoustic output of 4, commercial devices claimed to repel mosquitoes showed fundamental frequencies between 1.95 and 5 KHz and many harmonics extending into the ultrasonic range. None of them had significant repellent effects on laboratory bred Aedes aegypti or Culex pipiens or on field populations, mostly of Ae. hexodontus.
