Abstract

A cattle-baited trap for collecting haematophagous Diptera is described. During fly season, 10 species of Tabanidae, 6 species of Culicidae, at least 7 species of Simuliidae and 3 or more species of Ceratopogonidae were collected with the trap near St. John's, Newfoundland; at least 18 species had blood-fed.
