Abstract

The maxillae of fourth stage mosquito larvae, representing all but 2 of the known genera, have been examined with the light microscope. A general description of the maxilla is given and the dorsal and ventral surfaces of the maxillae examined are illustrated. In addition, representatives of the families Dixidae and Chaoboridae are included.
