Abstract

Data associated with 38 type specimens of Toxorhynchites in the British Museum (Natural History) and 1 type in the Hope Collection of Oxford University are listed. Lectotypes are designated for the following species: Tx. (Tox.) acaudatus, Tx. (Tox.) brevipalpis, Tx. (Tox.) coeruleus, Tx. (Tox.) edwardsi, Tx. (Tox.) gilesii, Tx. (Tox.) immisericors, Tx. (Tox.) inornatus, Tx. (Tox.) kaimosi, Tx. (Tox.) leicesteri, Tx. (Tox.) magnificus, Tx. (Tox.) metallicus, Tx. (Tox.) nairobiensis, Tx. (Tox.) nigripes and Tx. (Tox.) quasiferox.
