Abstract

ThoasiaLiebke, 1939 andStraneotiaMateu, 1961 of the Cryptobatida group, subtribe Agrina, Lebiini, living in the Neotropics are diagnosed, described, and illustrated. Occurrences of known species ranges are limited to the northern and western Amazon Basin and Guyana Shield. The following species are described as new:Thoasia surinamensisErwin & Aldebron,sp. n., Suriname,Thoasia pterosmaragdosAldebron & Erwin,sp. n., French Guiana,Thoasia manuErwin & Aldebron,sp. n., Ecuador, Perú;Straneotia cylindrocepsErwin & Aldebron,sp. n., French Guiana,Straneotia confundisAldebron & Erwin,sp. n., Ecuador, andStraneotia moiAldebron & Erwin,sp. n., French Guiana. Two of these species,Thoasia manuandStraneotia moiare known from adults collected by insecticidal fogging of lowland rainforest trees, and these trees are listed in their respective descriptions. The following species are redescribed:Thoasia rugifronsLiebke, 1939, French Guiana, Venezuela;Straneotia freyiMateu, 1961, Brazil;Straneotia amazonicaMateu, 1961, Brazil.
