Abstract

The division of Greek members of the genusTemnothoraxinto 17 morphological groups is proposed.Temnothorax avelispecies group is reviewed with three species:T. turcicus(Santschi) (North Aegean Islands, Sterea Ellas, Peloponnese and Thessaly), and two species new to science:Temnothorax brackoisp. nov.(Epirus, Ionian Islands, Macedonia, Peloponnese, western Sterea Ellas, Thessaly, and also Dalmatia in Croatia), andT. messiniaensissp. nov.(Ionian Islands and Peloponnese); a new speciesTemnothorax triangularissp. nov., a member of theTemnothorax nylanderispecies group is also described (Sterea Ellas: Euboea Island).
