Abstract

An improved diagnosis of the genusTricerophorais provided, and its position within Gelechiidae is briefly discussed. A new generic synonym is established:LeucophyllaJanse, 1960,syn. n.ofTricerophoraJanse, 1958. Six new species are described:T.pundamiliasp. n.(RSA),T.rukingasp. n.(Kenya),T.nigrinervissp. n.(RSA, Namibia),T.brumalesp. n.(Namibia),T.acutivalvasp. n.(Iran),T.minimorumsp. n.(Namibia). The following new combinations are proposed:Tricerophoranigribasis(Janse, 1960),comb. n.,Tricerophoraobjecta(Meyrick, 1921),comb. n.A key to the species is given based on external characters and the genitalia of both sexes. Adults and genitalia of all species are illustrated.
