Abstract

Although a recent comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study onPenaeusFabricius, 1798 reinstated a single genus for these economically important shrimps, several clades in the molecular phylogenetic tree do not have formal names. Subgeneric names are given herein to five of these clades ifPenaeusis to be split. A key to the subgenera inPenaeusis also provided.
