Abstract

An updated checklist of the Swiss species belonging to the families Cantharidae and Lycidae, is presented and briefly discussed. This checklist includes 106 species and is based on over 26’000 occurrences obtained from the identification of specimens held in museum and private collections, as well as from records taken from the literature.Cantharis liburnicaDepoli, 1912,C. paradoxaHicker, 1960,Malthinus rubricollisBaudi di Selve, 1859 andMalthodes umbrosusKiesenwetter, 1871 are recorded from Switzerland for the first time. Two species previously recorded from Switzerland (Malthodes montanusKiesenwetter, 1863,M. boicusKiesenwetter, 1863) are excluded from this list, as those records were based on misidentified material.
