Abstract

Present checklist of Romanian chironomid species comprises 722 taxa (6 subfamilies, 13 tribes, 2 subtribes, 142 genera, 42 subgenera and 517 species), listing 179 taxa more than the last published one (Tatole 2000). It also contains chorological data for 487 Romanian chironomid, over a period of almost 150 years.
