First published London: R. Blamire, 1786.

Paging: xlvii, 238 p., 15 leaves of plates; viii, 264 p., 16-[30] leaves of plates.

The views are etchings with aquatint after Gilpin's sketches. They are printed in black with tonal wash applied by hand. Plates 25-[30] depict grazing animals (horse, cattle, sheep) and make use of soft-ground etching in addition to etching and aquatint; some of these are signed in the plate SG, perhaps for Gilpin's brother Sawrey, an animal painter and etcher. The maps depict individual lakes, hand-colored blue.

At end of the 2nd vol. are 2 p. listing Gilpin's works available from the publishers.

Binding: brown paper, printed paper spine labels.
